DAY 2 – Foodie Gourmet Escape to the Margaret River, W.A.

DAY TWO ...waking up to the soothing sounds of the rooster's crow... not ideal... but we weren't going to let that dampen our spirits...

Today was going to be a big day of eating and drinking!

“Accept what life offers you and try to drink from every cup. All wines should be tasted; some should only be sipped, but with others, drink the whole bottle.”

- Paulo Coelho, Brida

Starting at the top - Fraser Gallop Estate! We had a tasting booked for 11am in the winery itself. This was hands down the best tasting of the weekend.

An informative, informal tasting that took you on a journey through the wines produced by the Estate. Standing out in the vines looking out over the Chateau was a magical experience. Sipping on Semilion Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Merlot and my personal favourite the Ice Pressed Chardonnay. The Ice Pressed was nothing like anything I had tried before. It had pear notes and the lightness and fruitiness of a Moscato. I could see it paired with a summery salad or a fruit plate, or just on its own...

After a morning of wine tasting it was time to move on to lunch. When you want the best, you can't go passed Vasse Felix in the Margaret River. The food here exceeded my expectations in both flavour and presentation.. outstanding! taste.E highlights... the cheese course (pungent blue with a creamy finish) and the entree (an amazing combination of textures and Asian flavours, it was light but full of flavour)!

Entree: Kingfish with grapefruit and yuzu

Main: Barramundi seared with zucchini and carrot puree

Dessert: Chocolate mousse with passionfruit and strawberries

Cheese Course: Bleu d'Auvergne with muscatels and quince paste

After a day of eating and drinking.. we had a nap.. ha ha!

Waking up just in time for dinner.. how convenient!

Heading into town for our booking at the Muster Bar & Bistro. This was a quirky set up, with quotes on the blackboards and a locally sourced menu.

Still drowsy from my food and wine coma.. only got photos of my main and dessert.

Main: Peach and Poached Chicken Salad with "Over the Moon" Fetta, Asparagus and Rocket. The chicken was moist and cooked to perfection! These were my first peaches of the season... and I was definitely not disappointed.. succulent and sweet.. YUMMM!

Dessert: Amazingly had room to fit in a sneaky Affogato with Baileys and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream.. to die for! I always love an interactive dish...

Today was a fantastic day for the taste buds.. every sense was evoked...

Happy eating x
